All About The Sew Facebook live sew-along….

Learn to make a fabric bookmark
Grab a cuppa and join me live on my Facebook page as I teach you how to sew a fabric bookmark. Have your machine threaded up and your fabric pieces cut out and I’ll teach you the rest. There will be the opportunity after the live sew along to purchase a photographic handout to support you repeating the project again and in case you want to sew at your own pace.
It’s time to gather your supplies!!!
For a basic bookmark you will need:
Fabric, interfacing and thread.
2 rectangular pieces of fabric (these can either be the same or one for the front and one for the back)
Please cut out your fabric into the following 2 pieces prior to the live sew along….
* Front fabric – 1 rectangle of fabric 8” x 3” (19cm x 7cm)
* Back fabric – 1 rectangle of fabric 8” x 3” (19cm x 7cm)
* Matching thread or contrasting colour if you wish
* Optional – pieces of ribbon/trim/ric rac
You will also need:
*Firm (medium-heavy weight) fusible (iron-on) interfacing – 2 rectangles of 8” x 3” (19cm x 7cm)
scissors, tape measure or ruler, pins or clips, an iron/ironing board and of course a sewing machine!
You can also experiment with different designs so you could sew together a few smaller pieces like patchwork. Have some scraps ready to choose from!
You may have time to sew up a couple of bookmarks during the sew along so have a few pieces of interfacing cut out and you could also cut out a cardboard/paper template 8” x 3” (19cm x 7cm) to speed things up a bit.
See you there!!!
Additional note:
Basic sewing skills required are the ability to set your own machine up ready to sew, sew a straight stitch and back (reverse) stitch. The rest I will run through during the live session. Plenty of scope to learn!!
Interfacing is a material that strengthens fabric to give it some body. This will help the give the basket some shape and stop it collapsing. You can buy online – 2 companies I know make it – Vilene and Hemline.
It is free to join the live sew along but if you would like to buy a copy of the pattern to use again after then please see the below instructions.
