Learn to sew a fabric storage basket
Come along and learn how to make a super handy fabric storage basket. Not only are these baskets really useful for storing all your bits in (and anyone else’s!!) but they look great too! They would make a lovely personalised gift for family and friends. Just choose your size and fabric combination and let me show you how to make it. You will learn how to use interfacing
to add structure to fabric, how to add a lining, how to sew neat topstitching and how to add a trim to projects.
Please note, this is a project that is suited to a beginner sewer but due to the shorter time available for this class there will not be enough time to instruct on the full use of the sewing machine. It is therefore suited to those familiar with a sewing machine or who feel they would only need a brief refresher. If in any doubt please get in touch. It is also suitable for anyone who fancies making something alongside others in a sociable setting.
Equipment and materials:
- Janome sewing machines and basic sewing tools provided to use
- Interfacing included
What you will need to bring:
- 2 fat quarters (there may be time to do 2 baskets so you may want to bring 4 fat quarters and enough trim for 2 baskets)
- Any trim that you would like to use e.g. ribbon, ric rac, pom poms
Tea/Coffee included.
Cost £15
Lorna says:
“This is a super cute project to learn how to make, once you know how you can adapt it to make any size you want. You get to learn how to use interfacing in projects too which is a really useful skill. These would make a gorgeous gift filled with some smellies or chocs. Also great for kid’s bedrooms to storing bits and bobs in like hair clips or jewellery and for make up, toiletries etc etc….!!!”
