Come and learn how to sew a pair of loose fitting, casual trousers

With no need for any tricky closures, they have a flattering flat-fronted, elasticated-back waistband with pretty pleats at the front. Practical and ideal for Summer, the Carrie Trousers are mid-rise and feature ever-useful slanted pockets at the side seams. Easy to fit, they are a great starting point for newbie trouser sewers who want to get to grips with construction.” (taken from the Sew Over It website)

Pattern sizing
The Carrie Trousers PDF sewing pattern is sized between UK sizes 8-20. The size chart can be viewed here.
You will need to measure yourself in order to know how much fabric to get. You cannot compare to high street sizes. Please get in touch if you are uncertain.
You will need to measure your waist, hip and inside leg. Please refer to my blog post on measuring yourself accurately for help with the waist and hip measurements.
You will need to bring:
- Fabric : – For 115cm wide fabrics you will need 2.8m for all sizes
For 140cm wide fabrics you will need 2m for sizes 8-12 or 2.6m for sizes 14-20
- Matching thread
Fabric suggestions:
A lightweight woven fabric with a lots of drape, in particular rayon and lightweight crepe. You could also use a lightweight linen or cotton lawn. Don’t choose anything too slippery for your first pair!
Please give me a call if you are in any doubt about fabric choices or suggestions of where to buy from.
It is recommended to pre wash your fabric before the workshop as it is likely to shrink a little in the first wash.
Cost £70- for the 2 sessions.
Lorna says:
“I absolutely love my Carrie trousers. As they are loose fitting with the elasticated waistband, they are great as a first pair of trousers to sew and fit. They can be dressed up with a pair of heels or worn as Summer trousers with flats or pumps. They are super comfy! I will be making several pairs for sure!”
