For help taking your body measurements please see my blog post here.
What you need to bring:
Fabric:
Cotton and cotton blends, crepe, rayon, linen and linen blends. These will be the easiest to sew with. If you are more experienced, for a softer look you could choose rayon or crepe.
7″ standard zipper
one 1/2″ button
Once you have taken your body measurements, compare them to the chart on the envelope back image below. If you are across sizes, go for the biggest size and then see how much fabric you need depending on whether it is 1.15m wide (45″) or 1.4m wide (55″). We will be making View D.
If you are tall or will be matching patterns/stripes then you will need more than that amount.
If you have any questions at all, just email me your body measurements and I will help you.

Lorna says:
“An a-line skirt is a great pattern to learn especially as a beginner dressmaker. By changing the fabric you can really change the look and style of the skirt. This pattern was my first ever me-made garment - sewing 2 of them in June/July 2014. I still wear them now and have recently made a denim version too. So many essential skills are included in this skirt including how to sew an automatic buttonhole using the sewing machine - awesome!!“
