**This workshop will be delivered virtually via the online video conferencing platform, Zoom. If you don’t already have a Zoom account, it is easy to set one up for free (basic package) via their website. Prior to the workshop I would email you the workshop joining instructions. Zoom allows 2 way communication between all participants and myself, allowing questions, feedback, demonstrations and conversation! It’s good fun and a great way to socialise with other people whilst sewing, during the pandemic.**
Free Motion Machine Embroidery
This class is suitable for those who are comfortable with the basics of a sewing machine i.e. winding bobbin, threading the machine, basic stitches.
Take your sewing skills to the next level and learn a fantastic new (highly addictive!) skill.
You will learn:
- How to set fabric up in an embroidery hoop
- How to use a free motion machine foot
- Basic free motion machine embroidery techniques and stitches
- How to finish off project ready for hanging if desired
Equipment and Materials included:
The following kit will be sent to you prior to the workshop:
- Calico fabric – 2 pieces (1 to practice on and 1 for final design)
- Fabric scraps (if needed – please email me if you would like me to include some)
- Wooden embroidery hoop to use during the project and to display project in after if desired.
What you will need:
- A free motion foot for your sewing machine (also called open toe or darning foot). **You need to make sure you get one that is compatible with your machine** Please get in touch if you would like help with this.
- You will need to have a think of a basic design prior to the class and draw/print off any templates. For inspiration and ideas, see the gallery page and look under Free Motion Machine Embroidery or search google/Pinterest for ‘free motion machine embroidery’ – lots and lots of inspiration!! For templates search ‘appliqué templates’
- Fabric scraps
