Duration – 2 hours
This workshop is suitable for those who have used a sewing machine before and can confidently thread the machine and bobbin. If you need a beginners class or a refresher then have a look at beginners classes available.
**This workshop will be delivered virtually via the online video conferencing platform, Zoom. If you don’t already have a Zoom account, it is easy to set one up for free (basic package) via their website. On the day of the workshop I would email you the workshop joining instructions. Zoom allows 2 way communication between all participants and myself, allowing questions, feedback, demonstrations and conversation! It’s good fun and a great way to socialise with other people whilst sewing, during this period of lockdown.**
Learn to sew Christmas bunting
Join in and get prepared for Christmas by learning how to sew some fabulous Christmas themed bunting. The bunting will be double sided and use bias binding to form the string of bunting.
This is a fantastic workshop for gaining confidence with your sewing machine.
Why not book with friends so you can get into the festive spirit together?!
Whilst this is advertised as a Christmas bunting workshop – feel free to make any kind of design fabric you like – the choices are endless!
Equipment and Materials:
- A bunting template will be emailed to you prior to the class
- A photographic handout of the skills learnt in the workshop will be sent via email after the class.
You will need:
- 3 fat quarters of fabric (different designs) – readily available in packs of 5-7 fat quarters in haberdasheries e.g Hobbycraft, John Lewis
- 2.5m of 25mm wide bias binding in co-ordinating colour. For an example see here.
- Matching thread
- Optional – any trims you may wish to embellish your bunting with e.g. pom pom trim or ric rac (nothing too fiddly!)
“I always used to think that bunting was for the Summer and didn’t really suit a Christmas version at all. And then I made mine!! I was converted! There are so many beautiful Christmas fabrics out there, it is a great opportunity to use a few of these fabrics in the same project. It will make a fantastic homemade addition to any house at Christmas! Bunting is also a great project for those getting used to a sewing machine wishing to practise their skills and increase their confidence and for those who would like to sew in a sociable setting!”
This workshop is fully booked.
